Now we do not observe the past directly because we were not there to witness what actually happened in that time in history. In the following claim, it says that we cannot write ancient history because we do not have enough information and we cannot write modern history because we have too much information. This claim is saying that we were not there to witness what actually happened in ancient times. One way we can get the information that was passed down from generation to generation. This information is unreliable because word passed by mouth over time can be changed to make the passed seem different. It also is saying that we cannot write modern history because we have too much information and most of the information is not needed. There is so much useful information that is out there, but someone needs to determine which information is needed. We dont know who picks and chooses which information is reliable.
